Over 10 years we have conducted a research on the efficay over placebo of homeopathic treatment in women with PMS. Results showed very positive result, significantly better then placebo. women benefited from this treatment by reduced suffering, reduced usage of general medication. less pain, improved mood and decline in absentee from work due to PMS.

The research was conducted at the Hebrew university of Jerusalem Israel, as part of PhD thesis by Michal Yakir, With cooperation of Prof Z.Bentwitch, G.Vithulkas and Dr. M.Oberbaum
Preliminary positive results were published and can be Downloaded here.
The main study, repeated with 100 women, demonstrated even better results and is currently being proceeded for publishing. Summary is presented here:

Summary: Methodological difficulties inherent in homeopathic trials, present a major obstacle. In this trial, a novel methodological approach was applied for the determination of the efficacy and reproducibility of classical homeopathic treatment in Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS).
Methods: Over 100 women with PMS were treated homeopathically after confirming PMS for 2 months, using the Moos Diery: Each was given a single dose of homeopathic medication, prescribed on the basis of a protocol of symptom clusters, with reference to key symptoms that indicates one of 14 predefined medications. Medication was administered randomly with its parallel masked placebo - on the seventh day of the menses.
Outcome Measures were: a) changes in the daily menstrual distress questionnaire (MDQ), between the 2 months before and 3 months after treatment, b) Self assessment c) medication usage and workdays loss d) Psychological questionnaires assessing cognitive orientation of suggestibility and social desirability. Analysis was by intention to treat.
Findings: 96 women, with evident PMS completed the study. Significantly higher improvement of PMS symptoms (mean MDQ scores) occurred in the homeopathicaly treated group compared to the controls (0.35 vs. 0.2, p=0.05). Marked reduction (90%) in number of sick days, (p=0.007). Significant reduction in medication intake (75% vs. 36%, p=0.03). Better self assessment (p=0.043) and more.
Conclusions: Homeopathic treatment in a study framework was significantly associated with improvement in PMS symptoms, thus, suggesting it can serve as a sound therapeutic option for the treatment of PMS. The homeopathic symptom-cluster approach used in this trial offers a novel tool for future clinical trials of homeopathic treatments.
